			Czytelnik zechce sprawdzić, że wprost z definicji wartości głównej pierwiastka drugiego stopnia wynika następujący warunek równoważny tej definicji

Taki zapis może też oznaczać, że chcemy rozważać funkcję <math>\sqrt{z}</math> na zbiorze otwartym.
